Social Events @ Leicester Bowling Club

As a club LBC has a very active social side. The Social & Indoor Committee organises events and activates throughout the year.

Our club has a strong club identity within the Leicestershire area, and a tradition of social events that have been impacted by Covid, along with a lot of other associations.

We have now restarted the social side of club with: –

  • Quiz nights
  • Horse racing evenings
  • Coronation party
  • A skittle evening at our local Conservative Club with a traditional “darts” supper.

Each event was well attended by our members, along with family and friends.

Leicester Bowling Club is one of the longest established clubs in the City. It is located 2 miles south of the town centre just off the A5199 (Welford Rd). It has excellent clubhouse facilities and a bowls green that is rated amongst the best in Leicestershire.

Club night

Throughout the winter our club night is Monday from 6.00pm.  We have two indoor bowls mats (see photo) which we enjoy a competitive game of indoor bowls.  We also have an afternoon session on a Wednesday from 2.00pm following the same format.

Indoor Bowls (Slater Street)

Although these other activities continue throughout the winter, Leicester Bowling Club green is closed for bowling from the end of September. However, many of our members continue to bowl indoors at Slater St, in many different leagues to suit all standards. Our members can keep in touch with each other and play competitively through the winter.

The Clubhouse

The club house has a large function area capable of seating around 70 people and a modern fully fitted kitchen with a 5-star environmental health certificate (issued August 2023). Our bar has an extensive range of draught beers and lagers including all the usual soft drink brands and snacks.

Pétanque – French boules played on purpose-built courts (2 rinks) next to the Clubhouse. This area can be accessed all year round and is used by club members and the local U3A.
